Although beer had been brewed in Dalešice since the end of the16th century, the brewery became well known only 35 years ago, when the movie director Jiří Menzel handpicked Dalešice from over 150 other breweries, and directed a movie Postřižiny that was based on a novel by Bohumil Hrabal. At that time the brewery had been closed for three years and its condition was getting worse until 1999 when the three recent owners bought the facility. They started a reconstruction that saved the brewery. In 2002 we started brewing again.
The historical part of the brewery became a unique Museum of Austro- Hungarian brewing industry. In place of the old malthouse is now a nice non-smoking restaurant, where you can indulge in our beer and a genuine local cuisine. In the stylish histriocal building where the council held meetings in the movie, are now organized weddings, parties and original events for the companies. A part of the facility is a ''poetic'' hotel ideal for romantic weekends, family trips or cycling holidays. We organize various cultural, sport or gastronomic events throughout the year.
